Iowa Biotechnology Association
The Iowa Biotechnology Association (IBA) was formed in 1994 to advance
opportunities in Iowa for the improvement of the human environmental and economic
well-being through the development and application of value-added technologies in the life
sciences. Working cooperatively, the members hope to enhance the ability to commercialize
new technologies in a timely manner and reduce the lead time for deployment. Activities of
the association are designed to give companies doing business in Iowa an edge in
delivering timely new products to consumers through the sharing of ideas regarding the
transfer and development of technologies.
Iowa Impact - Agriculture and Pharmaceuticals
Through the association, members cooperate with federal,
state and local agencies having responsibility in biotechnology, promote practices that
protect and serve health, safety, and assist in the development of industry standards.
The association will gather and communicate appropriate statistics to
educate and inform the membership of emerging issues, government policies, regulations and
encourage public acceptance of the industries' products.
The Iowa Biotechnology Association hosts an annual meeting and conference
each fall for its members and other interested persons.
The structure of the Board of Directors is
designed to encourage cooperation and communication among a variety of entities in order
to advance the biotechnology industry in Iowa.
