| Company Description | In 1974, the Division of Pharmaceutical Service at the University of Iowa began producing pharmaceutical dosage forms for clinical testing in compliance with the U.S. FDA's Good Manufacturing Processes. Today, the University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals (UIP) is the largest and most experienced university-affiliated FDA-registered pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the U.S.
UIP currently occupies 24,000 square feet on the ground floor of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and 6,000 square feet at the University of Iowa Research Park. Current full time staff consists of approximately 50 pharmaceutical professionals. The senior staff average over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development. In addition to our full time staff, UIP has ready access to the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy pharmaceutics faculty for collaboration. Faculty members specialize in areas such as peptide and protein formulation, injectable formulation design, and pre-formulation studies. Recently, UIP has formalized its relationship for the College of Pharmacy Faculty as The University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals Development Consortium or UIPDC. | |
