Commercialization Training Manager

Description

Zymeworks is seeking a highly-motivated professional who is looking to grow their career with our company. The Commercialization Training Manager will help create and maintain our organization’s head office, field-based commercial, and medical role-based training programs.

This position may be based in Seattle, WA or Vancouver, BC, and will report to the Director of Learning & Development, with oversight and guidance from the Head of Commercial and the Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns the creation and maintenance of the commercial and medical training program for all associated roles, including design, development, implementation, evaluation, and partnering with internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and external vendors/resources to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date for all training needs.
  • Project management, including coordinating resources (SMEs and/or vendors), communicating and reporting project status with stakeholders, resource utilization, and tracking against the sales and commercial training roadmap to ensure timely delivery.
  • Adheres to the content development (ADDIE) process to ensure consistent and quality delivery of all training Items/curricula.
  • Manages the gated review process for synchronous and asynchronous deliverables created, from draft/outline through gold and complete, noting SME reviewer feedback and modifying to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and quality.
  • Edits instructional or informational materials for content accuracy, training efficacy, and language professionalism.
  • Conducts training needs assessments and recommends training delivery models and programs.
  • Creates and maintains assessments/testing content.
  • Works with the Articulate 360 suite of solutions and Microsoft Office to create and maintain training deliverables.
  • Delivers all commercial and medical training classes, presentations, online courses, or other instruction as needed (e.g., Train-the-Trainer, SME co-delivery, etc.)
  • Adheres to the learning product design, curriculum specifications, and Zymeworks approved branding requirements and style guide for all created content and messaging.
  • Updates all commercial and medical training events within the corporate calendar and keeping learning and development links and information up-to-date within the corporate L&D wiki.
  • Maintains all commercial/medical training vendor relationships, contracting, quality control, and communication/coordination efforts.
  • Partners with the LMS Administrator to manage all digital training content Is maintained and available at any time to our commercial and medical staff.
  • Partners with Quality Assurance to ensure the availability and completion of all compliance-related training content for our commercial and medical staff.
  • Continuously assesses training and development needs of the salesforce and coordinate resources to address these needs to ensure the long-term development of the commercial team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S. or related degree required
  • 4+ years experience managing the learning and development and training program within a commercial, field sales, and/or medical organization required
  • Experience in launching a new therapeutic product required
  • Previous pharmaceutical training program design, delivery, and management required
  • Clinical experience in oncologoy (solid tumor disease state) strongly preferred
  • Experience in developing content using the Articulate 360 suite strongly preferred
  • Veeva Vault experience preferred
  • Experience in facilitating SME and vendor training analysis and discovery meetings
  • Time management, project management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Business acumen, analytics assessment, and critical thinking
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a diverse mix of responsibilities, execute plans, and communicate project updates to internal stakeholders
  • Proactively identify opportunities, find resolutions and act on resolutions
  • Interpersonal skills to establish positive and productive team and cross-functional peer relationships
  • Ability to build ongoing and highly credible relationships with all sales/commercial and corporate colleagues
  • Approximately 40-50% travel including company meetings

Skills and Abilities:

  • Mastery in adult learning strategy, engagement, and execution.
  • Ability to discuss product and disease information in an appropriate and compliant manner with healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical markets, business acumen, advanced selling skills, and managed care.
  • Views feedback as a gift, actively modeling and promoting inside and outside of the classroom to contribute to our culture of feedback.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Track record of professional curiosity and continual performance improvement, staying abreast of the latest learning and development practices, technologies, networks (LTEN, ATD, etc.), and tools to remain on the cutting edge.
  • Ability to translate competencies into skill and knowledge development areas.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to assess priorities and successfully manage workload to timelines.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to analyze moderate to complex data and glean basic information from the data.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic scientific/technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in a dynamic environment, while providing excellent service to internal customers.
