Research Associate III/Senior Research Associate

Process Sciences - Bothell, Washington

Description

Summary

This position will focus on performing studies and reporting results to support formulation development of Seagen antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The successful candidate will work closely with various functional areas within Process Sciences, Manufacturing and Quality Control.

Principal Responsibilities:

Research Associate III:

  • Conduct experiments and analyze results leading to the development of robust formulations for antibody and antibody drug conjugate (ADC) drug substances and drug products
  • Execute studies and design selected studies including pre-formulation characterization, liquid and lyophilized formulation development, stability studies, shipping and handling studies, evaluation of material for use in toxicology and clinical settings
  • Process data and present findings to FDPS team and project teams
  • Contribute to technical reports and prepare selected technical reports
  • Assume responsibility for more sophisticated lab equipment as subject matter expert (SME)
  • Take lead on selected projects and initiatives in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in organization

Senior Research Associate:

In addition to responsibilities listed above, the Senior Research Associate will have the following additions:

  • Design all studies including pre-formulation characterization, liquid and lyophilized formulation development, stability studies, shipping and handling studies, evaluation of material for use in toxicology and clinical settings. May be supervising the work of others in some cases
  • Process and review data and present findings at department meetings
  • Prepare or contribute to all types of technical documents including reports, clinical and nonclinical instructions and regulatory CMC sections
  • Independently lead department initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biological sciences or a related discipline
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function as a team player as well as work independently in experimental design, implementation and results interpretation
  • Excellent analytical mindset and skills including hands-on experience with chromatographic (e.g., SEC, RP, CEX, HIC) and electrophoretic (e.g., CE-SDS, iCIEF) techniques
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of protein chemistry, degradation and stabilization mechanisms
  • Experience with aseptic processing and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

Research Associate III:

  • 3+ years (MS) or 5+ years (BS) of protein formulation or analytical experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred skills include experience with analytical methods and techniques (e.g., DSC, HPLC-CAD, high throughput systems, subvisible particles analysis and other protein characterization assays)
  • Experience with lyophilization development

Senior Research Associate:

  • 5+ years (MS) or 8+ years (BS) of protein formulation and analytical experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred skills include experience with analytical methods and techniques (e.g., DSC, HPLC-CAD, high throughput systems, subvisible particles analysis and other protein characterization assays)
  • Experience with lyophilization development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills allowing associate to communicate cross functionally within the organization
  • Strong data and time management skills to facilitate study design, execution and interpretation with the ability to supervise this work done by others, as required
