Summary

Seagen is developing novel cancer therapeutics with the intention of significantly improving the quality and duration of patients’ lives. With an expanding depth and breadth of Research & Development activities we are seeking a Senior Manager, Global Patient Recruitment and Retention Solutions, reporting to the Associate Director of Patient Recruitment and Retention Solutions, may serve as the day-to-day point of contact or first escalation point to internal and external stakeholders as it relates to patient recruitment and retention projects. The Sr. Manager is also involved in/responsible for creating strategies and solutions to support clinical trial recruitment and retention. This individual utilizes internal and external capabilities to create recruitment solutions for clinical trials and may function as the primary point of contact for requesting and implementing recommendations from specialty recruitment vendors. This person provides operational support, including attendance at internal and external meetings.

This position is both strategic and facilitative, requiring a willingness to play a very active role in collaborating with project teams to proactively plan for and execute effective recruitment strategies. This role will apply a broad and comprehensive understanding of theories and practices as well as modern evidence-based methodology of patient recruitment planning and execution of studies conducted across the Seagen portfolio.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Feasibility and clinical study team members, support study-specific enrollment modeling planning and ongoing activities leveraging a variety of technology platforms; support analysis of data available, application and potential impact
  • Support strategic development and execution of protocol- and site-specific patient recruitment and retention plans, providing ongoing consultation and training to clinical study teams and ongoing analysis of trends and impact of plans to defined targets
  • Proactively identify protocol-specific recruitment and retention risks and offer aligned strategic, evidence-based mitigations, contingency plans and recommendations to clinical study teams
  • Collaborate with clinical study teams and other internal key stakeholders as well as external providers to streamline and coordinate tactics associated with protocol and site-specific recruitment and retention plans
  • Lead the organization, facilitation, and documentation of meetings including clear meeting agendas and key actions items
  • Prepare and conduct recruitment training for clinical study teams including CRA trainings; preparation of site trainings including Investigator Meeting recruitment trainings and workshops
  • Help manage relationships and processes with existing vendors, supporting the clinical study teams; ensure timelines, deliverables and outcomes are maintained and reported on accurately and in a timely manner
  • Work with internal groups including Vendor Strategy Management, Legal, Regulatory, Communications, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, and others to generate clinical trial awareness and drive recruitment and retention success for assigned studies
  • Contribute to study close-out activities including strategic analysis of lessons learned and best practices
  • Provide input and feedback to Patient Recruitment and Retention Leadership Team in support of identification of program and portfolio-level trends and needs
  • Keep team process documents up-to-date, maintain team handbook, and train and mentor junior team members

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience focused on patient recruitment activities / services in biotechnology or drug development field
  • Ability to multi-task with very strong organizational and communication skills, including presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust, influence, and relationships across a large and diverse group
  • Strong initiative with the ability to manage projects of varying complexity and timelines simultaneously
  • Experience managing multiple delivery touchpoints – in-house teams, external vendors, suppliers, and partners to ensure high-quality program outputs within required timelines
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFR and GCP/ICH requirements, as well as European Clinical Trial Directive is required
  • Experience in oncology or hematology/oncology is preferred
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Adept communication skills including ability to summarize complex issues concisely and listen effectively to concerns and problems
  • High standards of excellence and exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter who identifies and helps solve problems, and can deal with ambiguity; possesses the ability to be an independent thinker and autonomous worker
  • Familiarity and understanding of scientific and clinical principles that guide our business

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution and 5+ years of experience focused on patient recruitment activities / services in biotechnology or drug development field
