Summary
The Sr. Director, Specialty Distribution, is responsible for creating Seagen’s distribution and channel strategy and will lead a team of distribution and channel professionals to ensure access to our growing portfolio of products. The Senior Director, Specialty Distribution will be a key decision maker and will develop strategies that ensure efficient and compliant distribution of current and future Seagen products. The leader will oversee a team of Specialty account managers responsible for Specialty/Wholesale distributors and specialty pharmacies including commercial, IDN and IOD accounts. He/she will support the vision and drive execution to support the current portfolio and prepare for further portfolio expansion. The leader will collaborate closely with senior members of GVA, Commercial Franchises, CVO, Medical, Compliance and Legal, Finance, Supply chain to ensure maximum patient access to Seagen’s portfolio of products.
The Senior Director, Specialty Distribution will be an authority on distribution and a channel expert with a keen understanding of industry trends. This role will report to the Executive Director, Distribution & Channel Strategy.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Design and lead implementation of the Seagen distribution strategy to ensure continued successful product access across the current and future portfolio of infused and oral products.
- Evaluate and lead execution of effective field engagement strategy with key customers in specialty sector and implement strategic initiatives with IOD’s, Hospital SP’s, IDN’s, Specialty Distributors and other key customers.
- Lead contract negotiation strategy development and execution with key stakeholders including specialty distributors, specialty pharmacy partners, specialty pharmacy data aggregators.
- Represent Seagen and cultivate executive level relationships with specialty distributors, commercial specialty pharmacies, hospital /IDN pharmacies, and IOD pharmacies.
- Drive continuous improvement of the company’s Specialty Distribution and evolving distribution channel models to identify any necessary changes or adjustments based upon SD and SP data analysis, pipeline products, market dynamics, risk mitigation, and/or regulatory and legislative changes.
- Develop strategy and tactical plan for distribution channel including uncovering channel needs, stakeholder / influence mapping, identifying / prioritizing business goals, defining and delivering value propositions in collaboration with Franchises /Global Value Access and Pricing teams and developing tactical implementation plans.
- Lead the account team’s efforts to build and maintain Seagen’s strategic distribution playbook and tools, including QBR content, and negotiation strategy decks, to effectively support account management.
- Key decision maker in managing and resolving complex distribution challenges that frequently arise in a growing portfolio, requiring thoughtful decision making, thorough understanding of Seagen book of business and ability to anticipate downstream impact of decisions.
- Continually assess industry information on specialty category economics, inventory management, reimbursement, and deployment strategies; partner with internal and external experts to stay current on the latest access and reimbursement issues and trends at the regional and national level. Proactively communicate relevant information to impacted stakeholders.
- Evaluate current distribution and channel contracts with focus on sustainability, long term positioning, and gross to net impact
- Lead efforts to coordinate data management and attainment from various aspects of distribution channel with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Uphold ethics and ensure compliance with all internal and external rules, regulations, contracts and SOPs to protect Seagen’s interests.
- Advance functional and organizational excellence as a member of the Trade, Distribution, and channel strategy Leadership Team

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Oncology experience preferred.
- 6+ years of distribution and channel experience. Specialty distribution preferred.
- 3+ years of leadership experience required; within channel, trade and/or distribution preferred.
- Proven leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment, with both people management and functional representation/advocacy responsibility.
- Must have previous experience articulating and driving team vision/purpose in order to effectively represent the Distribution/Channel team, GVA team and Seagen externally and internally, including senior leadership across the enterprise.
- Current knowledge of drug distribution channels including specialty distribution and specialty pharmacy.
- Proven ability to develop and lead strategic initiatives and projects both internally and with the support of a highly qualified consultant from inception to implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage teams and vendor relationships
Exceptional contract negotiation strategy and execution skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements related to the distribution of pharmaceuticals.
- Strong technical knowledge including ability to work efficiently in high level data aggregator inputs, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and other like resources necessary to complete job duties.
- Demonstrated ability to lead account teams and manage vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication, written and verbal skills up, down and across the organization including senior leadership
Excellent analytical capabilities for business presentations and quarterly business reviews.
- Willingness to embrace new challenges in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders, including effectively navigating sensitive conversations as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oncology experience preferred
- Wholesaler/Distribution experience a plus
