Summary:

The Associate Director, Talent Development will work in partnership with the business and HR to define leadership and professional development capability priorities. This role will define the strategy for development programs and lead the execution of agreed projects across the full end-to-end learning cycle. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Leadership Development team, which is comprised of three FTE specialists and one or two contractor roles. Oversees the management of several training and development related vendor partners, this includes training vendors, instructional designers, and contract facilitators.
  • Defines the strategy for leadership and professional development programs  Conducts training and development needs assessment to clearly understand and address capability gaps within the organization from a company-wide perspective. Identifies and assesses future and current development needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals, talent reviews, and consultation with line managers, HRBPs and others.
  • Manages all leadership and professional development efforts, including manager development, DEI learning, employee development, and cohort-based programs for high potential leaders.
  • Manages the coaching and 360 feedback programs. Coach managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts. Consult with HR partners for best coaching solutions.
  • Ensures learning and development solutions are developed and deployed using global frameworks, standards, systems, and processes. Proposes and creates new programs in line with Company and HR strategies. Maintains and modifies current programs.
  • Develops and manages spending against the departmental budget.
  • Partners and consults with HR partners on leadership and team development solutions for individual or team needs. Partners with and advises training leaders and professional throughout the company, for example.Commercial Training & Development.
  • Oversees the Seagen Onboarding Program, including the PAL program, which pairs new hires with a buddy, and New Hire Connect, a monthly gathering for new employees.
  • Leads the planning and delivery employee development and/or training events, such as Friday Learning Lab, and supports Inclusion Week.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communication and marketing to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Monitors and evaluates training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report on them. Analyzes follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
  • Facilitates trainings and team buildings when needed.
  • In conjunction with the Sr Specialist, manages the LMS and assigned ServiceNow tickets. Finds ways to better utilize LMS.
  • Understand the culture and values of the organization and champion the Company’s vision.
  • Effectively direct the activities of external consultants and vendors. Minimize and optimize, when necessary, the employment of external consultants and controlling cost and efficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Highly skilled at collaboration and cross functional partnerships
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in the end-to-end learning process, i.e., learning needs assessment, program design and delivery, and learning evaluation and assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage medium- to large-scale projects in training & development with a successful record of delivering of high quality, innovative training solutions in an adult learning environment
  • Proven ability to accurately interpret customer needs and translate these into a coherent program
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of change and ambiguity; ready and willing to change gears and plans quickly
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc.)
  • Proven facilitation skills and ability
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals
  • Vendor and contract negotiation skills
  • 7 years' experience in Training/HR or related field

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Certifications in relevant course or OD work preferred

The hiring pay range for this position is $162,000 to $209,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role.   Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
