Summary:

The Data Engineer II at Seagen is responsible for overseeing data engineering activities and aiding in building robust data ingestion solutions and processing pipelines. The role is responsible for hands-on data management and system configuration as well as building and maintaining data pipelines that facilitate deeper analysis and reporting, data science, and Business Intelligence deliverables.

The successful candidate will build data processing frameworks that handle Seagen’s growing need for clean, up-to-date data access. They will work with senior Management, technical and data science leadership plus other Data and Analytics teams in curating and leveraging data with reporting and scientific tools while striving to continuously develop new and improved data engineering capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, manage and optimize data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata, data quality, and workload management
  • Hands-on data curation, report configuration, and verification of specific reporting tools. Day-to-day operations managing data and reports
  • Collect requirements, design, and build system components and tools to serve analytics models, receive feedback, and generate model statistics
  • Collaborate with senior data science leaders and stakeholders in analyzing and understanding data sources, participating in design, and providing insights and guidance on database technology and data modeling best practices
  • Identify and manage existing and emerging data risks that stem from business activities, are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled
  • Implement and deliver results using efficient defect management, root cause analysis, and resolution processes
  • May implement front-end/user interfaces and APIs of data and knowledge-driven applications
  • Contribute to the evolution of coding and design practices within the organization including code review, testing, documenting, deployment, and efficiency
  • Author reports, validation documentation, standard operating procedures, and other supporting documents
  • Provide training, user support, and perform system administrative functions as needed
  • May advise, mentor, and/or lead junior staff and aiding professional development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree + 4 years or MS + 2 years in a technology field and experience including Database Administration, Data Engineering, or Data architecture development or equivalent
  • Familiarity with multiple languages, libraries, and frameworks (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery, Python, C#, Vue.js, React)
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. Snowflake, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, PostgreSQL, Cosmos, SQL), web servers (e.g. Apache)
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Discoverant, Spotfire, Power BI, R, JMP, SIMCA online
  • Experience with integrating, interacting, and interrogating API’s
  • Understanding and utilization of Git, Github, and Azure DevOps
  • High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities

Preferred:

  • Experience in biotechnology / pharmaceutical environment or similar industry strongly preferred
  • Experience with regulatory reports and GMP data management practices

The hiring pay range for this position is $110,000 t0 $142,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
